We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Inclusion Team as an Engagement and Attendance Liaison Officer. This is a challenging and rewarding role that will support the team in promoting the welfare and attendance of learners in school.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in or with schools, and will be confident in engaging with pupils, parents, and carers to promote positive attendance and reduce persistent absence. They will also have a sound knowledge of the legislation relating to the education of children and young people, and the Welsh government attendance framework.
The role will involve working closely with schools, families, and other agencies to provide guidance and support, and to act as the first point of liaison between schools and parents/learners and the Inclusion team. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a multi-agency setting, and will have a strong understanding of the impact of social deprivation and disadvantage on school attendance and attainment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support schools and families to promote positive attendance and reduce persistent absence
- Work with pupils, parents, and carers to identify and address barriers to attendance
- Provide guidance and support to schools and families on attendance and engagement issues
- Act as the first point of liaison between schools and parents/learners and the Inclusion team
- Work closely with other agencies to provide a comprehensive support service to schools and families
Requirements
- Experience of working in or with schools
- Experience of working with pupils in several key stages
- Knowledge of the legislation relating to the education of children and young people, and the Welsh government attendance framework
- Strong understanding of the impact of social deprivation and disadvantage on school attendance and attainment
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency setting
