Salary: The starting salary is £57,301 which includes allowances totalling £2,841.
The salary is broken down as £54,460 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £ 66,356. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: This role is agile with flexibility to work remotely or from 50 Broadway, London. Contract – Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2027 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

The Office of the Police Chief Scientific Adviser
As articulated in the NPCC Strategic Plan 2021-2025, science, technology, analysis, and research (STAR) is central to our delivery of a world-class police service. The Office of the Police Chief Scientific Adviser (OPCSA) sits at the heart of this ambition. OPCSA delivers independent and timely scientific and technology advice to NPCC members on strategic, policy and operational issues. It drives the growth of Science, Technology, Analysis and Research (STAR) by encouraging an integrated and ambitious set of activities across NPCC portfolios. Additionally, it fosters collaboration across Whitehall and with the wider science community both nationally and internationally. The CSA supports the whole policing sector and works closely with the College of Policing , the National Crime Agency , the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners , His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services , individual constabularies and government ministers.
We are seeking a dynamic Network Manager to be responsible for nationally tasking and coordinating a large number of people assets that form part of the new Innovation Network.
This is a fast-paced, challenging leadership role supporting the UK’s most senior police officers to achieve their strategic objectives and drive progress for the public.
Working at the centre of policing on the biggest issues for the service, it offers the opportunity to make a real difference.
The Research and Innovation Leads Network Manager will be responsible and accountable for a significant workload that will involve tasking, coordinating, and supporting a team of analysts to deliver strategic research, analysis, and performance insight. They will primarily provide leadership that can lead, develop, and implement dynamic approaches which will contribute to the NPCC Science and Innovation planning function hub. They will provide a pivotal role in ensuring regular quality, evidenced data and insight is available and reported through to both the Office of the Chief Scientist (OPCSA), the Science & Innovation Coordination Committee (SICC) and then Research and Innovation mapping which they will develop, implement, and manage.
Proven track record in the production and delivery of high-quality reports and other documentation for chief officers and senior leaders across the Network.
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
We are innovative and open-minded, Level 2 - The Research and Innovation Leads Network provides a national framework that can help deliver the NPCC S&T Strategy. The creation and maintenance of effective regional coordination of the Network will build localised capabilities in ethical oversight and provide strategic foresight to help policing tackle the biggest challenges, opportunities and changes in crime and demand facing the police service. We are collaborative, Level 3 - The Research and Innovation Network works collaboratively across National Policing to enable the use of science and technology to strengthen public trust and confidence in the police service. We take ownership, Level 3 - This new post has been introduced to help coordinate the network of Research and Innovation Leads, build consistent processes, and increase transparency of all innovation.
