**THE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEFS’ COUNCIL (NPCC)**

- Communication - by sharing the collective expertise, views and action of UK police chiefs.

**NPCC BUSINESS SUPPPORT TEAM**
Business Support maintains the logistics for the delivery of strategic meetings including Chief Constables Council, Regional Chiefs and the newly formed Strategic Planning and Coordination Board. Other responsibilities include supporting the remote workforce for all IT and equipment, HR support, finance, governance assurance, information management and data protection protocols, and host force management duties. The team also work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the NPCC is able to support Chief Officers in the constantly evolving areas of national policing.

**THE ROLE**

We are seeking a dynamic data protection professional with current experience of working within complex policing environments.

This is a high-profile leadership role supporting the UK’s most senior police officers to achieve their strategic objectives and drive progress for the public.

Data Protection legislation requires that the DPO is appointed on the basis of their ‘professional qualities and in particular their expert knowledge of data protection law and practices and the ability to perform the tasks’ set out in the Data Protection legislation.

**Applicants must have the skills below**:

- Advanced communication/presentation skills sufficient to brief at senior board level
- Effective decision-making, on often complex matters with wide-ranging implications and effects
- Excellent IT literacy, particularly in the use of M365 products
- Proactive risk identification and risk mitigation
- Developing and providing advice to a diverse range of force DPOs in support of the national Data Portfolios and the NPCC’s strategic priorities
- Devise and deliver specialist and team specific training

**Vetting**

**This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post;**

**APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS**

In addition to these examples, applicants must demonstrate current experience of working in a policing environment achieved through at least 5 years of working in a Data Protection role within a UK law enforcement organisation. Applicants must also possess a formally recognised Data Professional Qualification such as the BCS Certificate or CIPP/E.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
