**Data Protection Officer**

**Full time, Permanent**

**Working**: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
**Location**: Central London Office 2-3 days per week with occasional travel to Winnersh Office (RG41), and limited European travel

This is a fantastic and multi-faceted opportunity to work in one of our thriving digital marketing companies, as well as providing data protection analysis and support to other ASL companies across Europe. The group includes marketing companies that process millions of records of personal data across 90+ countries.

The role requires a highly collaborative and service-orientated approach to improving data protection capabilities in ASL companies in Europe. As an integral member of the central Advantage Smollan Data Privacy Team, you will spend approximately 50% of your time in your capacity as DPO for a highly successful Digital Marketing Company based in Central London. You will also partner with local teams across the group portfolio companies to provide data protection insights, evaluations, and support to bolster their data privacy capabilities. Your ability to build relationships with and influence local teams as well as the central team will be key to your success

**Responsibilities**:

- The full suite of DPO responsibilities as drafted in the UK / EU GDPR
- Provide hands-on support to ASL companies in the implementation of data privacy capabilities in their organisations
- Define and deliver data privacy plans for ASL companies
- Manage the ongoing data privacy function within the business to ensure effective privacy practices, which minimise risk and ensures compliance with data privacy laws, regulations, and market best practice
- Utilise the OneTrust tool for data inventory management, data lifecycle and security, individual rights management, and other core facets of data privacy for ASL companies
- Drive up data privacy awareness across ASL companies through various stakeholder engagements, including the development of data privacy awareness materials
- Monitor and report on compliance with applicable data privacy laws and regulations
- Reporting of significant or serious breaches, including advice on remediation measures, related oversight, and trend analysis
- Collaborate with the IT function to ensure alignment between cyber security and data privacy practices
- Perform relevant horizon scanning of data privacy developments impacting ASL companies and the sector in general

**Requirements**:

- Expert knowledge of data privacy legislation in the UK, mainland Europe and other regions
- An ability to build strong and effective working relationships across the business
- Commercial awareness in a digital environment:

- Understands business operations, processes, and digital solutions
- Provides practical and commercially viable input and advice
- Advanced organisational and project management skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks in terms of the level of risk to the business
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- CIPP/E certified
