Legal Counsel, Data Protection Officer

**Position Overview**:
**What You’ll Do for Us**:
- Advise on privacy and security by design on a wide range of data privacy, data governance, AI / ML, security / privacy by design, responsible use of data and cybersecurity matters in connection with the company's business and its compliance requirements
- Advise business functions, and/or staff regarding compliance obligations under the GDPR, Member State data protection law, and Coca-Cola privacy, data protection, and security policies;
- Escalation point for risk and compliance opportunities regarding existing privacy regulations, including advising on adtech and marketing items of potential high privacy risk for further escalation to the Data Trust Governance Council
- Monitor compliance of the organization with all legislation in relation to data protection, including in audits, awareness-raising activities as well as training of staff involved in processing operations;
- Support awareness and training through and assess GDPR and data protection training materials, be familiar with Coca-Cola policies and procedures, and provide approved GDPR and/or data protection training(s) to Coca-Cola staff;
- Monitor for changes in regulatory landscape around privacy and data protection and provide gap analysis and management action plans to maintain and enhance compliance
- Provide advice where a DPIA has been carried out and monitor its performance, including advise and assist Coca-Cola business, legal, and compliance functions with the carrying out of DPIAs, advising Legal Counsel on when a DPIA is required under regulations, assisting such functions with procedural and substantive aspects of DPIAs, advising on technical controls interpretation and implementation, monitoring ongoing compliance with completed DPIAs, and undertaking any prior consultations with supervisory authorities that legal and/or compliance functions may deem required;
- Perform and support monitoring ongoing compliance with the GDPR, Member State data protection law, and Coca-Cola’s privacy, data protection, and security policies;
- Perform and assist Coca-Cola legal and compliance functions in the design and continual improvement of Coca-Cola’s global privacy framework, governance structure and operating model, to the extent the global program applies to the European operations, including by advising in regards to program design and structure, and in regards to privacy, data protection, and security policies and procedures (e.g., Define and document agile, repeatable and resilient processes to increase maturity level of data protection program);
- Act as a contact point for requests from individuals regarding the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their rights;
- Participate in Data Protection Officer network and provide strategic guidance on implementing processes to address new and enhanced data protection controls
- Maintain independence as required under the GDPR, including by avoiding tasks that may place the DPO under a conflict of interests
- Provide sound, clear and succinct recommendations and analysis to senior stakeholders and business teams around data use and management that enables innovation to move forward and break new ground.
- Provide oversight & guidance over all Europe OU legal matters relating to privacy and data protection
- Instruct external law firms and external counsel as required.
- Conduct gap analysis between EU OU data privacy and data security laws and the GDPR and other laws.
**Qualification & Requirements**:
- Qualified as an attorney in Europe;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization;
- 5-7 years of professional experience as with deep knowledge of privacy, data security, cybersecurity and data protection laws in Europe; including EU and UK GDPR (at least 2 years at a law firm);
- International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) CIPP or similar certifications are preferred, and experience with OneTrust preferred.
- Data protection experience with a global legal privacy and data strategy that enables the use of data to accelerate growth.
- Requires understanding of existing and emerging legal and regulatory developments in the EU region impacting data privacy and cybersecurity, including identifying regulatory trends and evaluating the potential business impact, and the ability to manage incident investigation teams composed of various stakeholders
- Requires a deep knowledge of GDPR and UK GDPR, DMA, DSA and AI relevant European and international laws as well as EU / US and EU / China cross-border data transfer requirements
- Requires a deep knowledge of European adtech and marketing privacy laws, and working knowledge of U.S. state privacy laws including CCPA, Brazil, Canada, China and proposed India privacy and data protection laws is an advantage
