As part of our ongoing development of new business we are starting a renewable energy business to supply energy and energy-related services to our Operating Companies. This role forms part of the founding team.

JOB PURPOSE

The Investment Manager/Director role will lead on engagement with internal and external stakeholders and in particular our partner(s) in the renewable sector to develop, structure and deliver renewable energy projects to support the customers of Egg Power (OpCos and third parties under CPPAs). Initial ambition to secure 300 GWh of projects/CPPAs. The Investment Manager/Director will also support Egg Power onsite projects for example co-location of renewable energy and data centres, onsite power, storage and other energy demand reduction equipment for large customers within the LG OpCos.

The Investment Manager/Director will play a significant part in delivery of the business plan, taking the lead in a series of project bids and negotiations and investments. They will also join a growing management team with significant opportunity to contribute to the development of strategy and operational capability. The role will be entrepreneurial, hands on initially working with internal and external colleagues.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Lead renewable project development, commercial structuring and delivery
  2. Lead energy project origination, investment assessment, commercial structuring and transactions through market knowledge, expertise, own network and experience;
  3. Accurate business investment modelling/decisions, evaluation and diligence of renewable assets and projects based on market information and internal models and their own network;
  4. Oversee maintenance and development of financial models and other tools;
  5. Lead bid preparations and subsequent negotiation for procurement of new Wind and Solar renewable assets and onsite energy projects (eg colocation, investments);
  6. Lead commercial structuring of projects to deliver expected returns and risk/reward profile;
  7. Lead the negotiation of key commercial documents with counterparties for projects sources through different kinds of transactions (joint venture and M&A transactions, etc);
  8. Co-ordinate internal functions including Legal, Tax, Treasury, Insurance, Asset Management and external functions with the advisors;
  9. Understand regulatory, market and operational risks for energy project investments and recommend appropriate mitigants for such risks;
  10. Identify issues and lead a learn/change/improve cycle based on our experience of multiple project bid cycles;
  11. Lead investment and acquisition phase of projects and investment management;
  12. Lead the preparation of investment papers and presentations for Board / Investment Committees;

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Skills and Abilities

  1. Investment modelling of commercial debt/equity funded transactions;
  2. Significant previous experience in the commercial management of renewable energy projects and deal transactions in energy or associated/similar markets;
  3. Commercial acumen;
  4. Engagement with and commitment to continue learning about the evolving energy markets across Europe;
  5. Project management and team development skills, supporting anticipated ramp-up in team scope, need to support on-the-job learning about a multi-factor;
  6. Detail oriented and ability to describe the concepts in a simple understandable terms;
  7. Demonstrable training and experience in Excel modelling, also Powerpoint development and presentation;
  8. Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with different stakeholders both internally and externally;
  9. Experience of corporate strategy, M&A or associated roles;
  10. Commercial contract negotiation;
  11. Innovative and forward looking;

QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES

PREFERRED EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors or above in Engineering, Physics, Economics or similar;
  2. Energy market experience essential;
  3. Experience of Private Equity or other Investment environments in the energy sector an advantage;
  4. Business Development experience of renewable energy projects at different stages of the life cycle of renewable energy projects (M&A and greenfield) essential;
