The Role

We are seeking a Venture Capital Associate or Fellow to join our investing practice. The successful candidate will work closely with our team in driving all aspects of investments, including:

  • Defining segments of interest
  • Sourcing investment opportunities
  • Conducting research
  • Writing investment memorandums
  • Conducting due diligence
  • Supporting transaction execution

In addition to investments, the successful candidate may also be involved in fundraising, firm operations, and support to portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play an impactful role in a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial firm. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, and other stakeholders
  • Conducting market research and analysis to identify investment opportunities
  • Writing investment memorandums and other materials
  • Supporting due diligence and transaction execution
  • Assisting with fundraising and firm operations

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Outstanding research, writing, and analytical/quantitative skills
  • Experience in investment banking, private equity/VC investing, corporate strategy, consulting, or related fields
  • Demonstrated interest in innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa
  • Proven track record of success in a dynamic environment
  • Conviction in your viewpoints, but ability to quickly adapt to feedback and new information
  • Intellectually curious with a dedication to going the extra mile
  • Collaborative attitude with a team-first approach
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated judgment; record of making winning decisions
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and trust with others
  • Self-management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to synthesize sophisticated information, form a sharp point of view, and communicate it clearly
  • Fluency in English is required, fluency in French is a plus
