Here at Nurslink, we are currently looking for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse to support an NHS trust in London to work 37.5 hours per week, mixed shift rota.

Location: Situated in North London.

Job Summary:
The post holder will work closely with and deputize the ward manager in their absence. Be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team, supervise, teach, and instruct junior and Nursing Assistants/Activity coordinators/STR Workers in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
Working independently, the post holder will be responsible for developing and coordinating the individual’s assessment and subsequent care plan as agreed with the multi-disciplinary team. 
The post holder will adhere to Trust policies, data protection, and Health and Safety. 
Requirements:Essential:
  • Registered nurse with a current NMC pin 
  • Relevant Nursing qualifications
  • Hard-working RNMH
  • 6 months recent experience RNMH 
  • 2 clinical references that cover 3 years of work experience

Main Duties/Responsibilities:As an RNMH nurse, you will:
  • To observe the requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 ensuring the patient is fully informed of their legal position and their rights under the Act. 
  • To determine nursing priorities and plan patient care accordingly including full risk assessment, inform the Ward manager when changes in circumstances may affect standards of care.
  • To participate as an effective member of the MDT and be responsible for the development and implementation of a patient-centered approach to care: assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the care needs of patients and their carers.
  • To determine nursing priorities and plan patient care accordingly including full risk assessment, inform the Ward manager when changes in circumstances may affect standards of care.
  • To administer medication in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, and locally agreed policies. Have a thorough knowledge of medication used in the treatment of mental health and provide information regarding medication, treatment, dosage, and side effects to patients, relatives, and carers. Use all available resources to assist in this.
  • To liaise with other professionals/specialist nurses and special units to ensure that all facets of the patient’s care are covered.
  • To interpret the significance of clinical observations, act upon them; and communicate information to other multi-disciplinary team members after making the necessary clinical judgments and in line with clinical protocols.
  • To support and assist the ward manager in the daily running of the ward, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources and to have specific ongoing responsibility for delegated aspects of the running of the ward.
  • To give and receive appraisal, and supervision of self, junior, and untrained staff in line with Trust policy and the principles of the Knowledge and Skills Framework and support team members to develop their full potential.
  • To actively participate in the completion of Quality Audit documentation and undertake audits relevant to the Ward/Unit as required.
