Introduction


Do you have experience writing grant applications from the National Lottery Community Fund (previously The Big Lottery Fund) Awards for All, Reaching Communities, Partnerships, #iwil Fund, The UK Fund, and the Climate Action Fund in the UK? You will be responsible for the overall administration and management support of the Lottery-funded projects and actively contribute to preparing new Lottery project proposals.


Role Description

This is a volunteer remote role for a Lottery Funding Specialist at Africa Health Organisation. The Lottery Funding Specialist will be responsible for researching, identifying, and applying for funding opportunities from various local and international lottery programs. They will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop compelling grant proposals, manage the grant application process, and ensure compliance with all funding requirements.


Project Management

Lead on the successful implementation of the Lottery Fund project deliverables and develop and manage an implementation timetable to ensure delivery of project targets to a high quality and within the contracted timeframe and budget.

  • Plan project activities, and supporting project leads to ensure detailed project implementation plans are in place, understood by team members, and effectively implemented as scheduled.
  • Track progress against programme objectives, ensuring full completion as per programme work plans.
  • Ensure effective systems to monitor and evaluate the quality of project delivery are in place.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive and cost-effective project visibility and communication strategies, reaching out to all project stakeholders.
  • Ensure quality reporting of project achievements and documenting best practices and lessons learnt in the course of implementation.
  • Work closely with support departments (Finance and ΙΤ) to ensure adequate support for project delivery.


Budget Management

Be responsible for designated project budgets, including monitoring expenditures against budget lines and ensuring funds are appropriately utilised in meeting project objectives.


Degree

Academic background in International or another relevant field with a Bachelor’s or/and preferably a Master’s degree. Those without a degree, but with a vast amount of experience are welcome to apply. We will discuss this with individual candidates.



Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in grant writing, fundraising, or a related field
  • Knowledge of lottery funding programs and grant application processes
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for improving health outcomes and addressing health inequality


  • Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in English (both written and oral).
  • You must be based in the UK.


  • Technological Awareness:
  • Fluency in office software, email, web-based applications, and databases.
  • Command of social media.
  • Actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks.
