Job description

​The Regulatory Information and Intelligence Team is a key support function within OPSS sitting in the Targeting Area, responsible for collecting, collating and analysing information and intelligence to produce and disseminate products which help shape and support OPSS regulatory decision-making at all levels.�

​We are seeking a Regulatory Information and Intelligence Analyst who can add to the diversity and scope of the Unit to help embed our intelligence capability supporting the production ofintelligence products and data analysis across the team. �

​​This is an exciting opportunity for a focused individual with established skills in intelligence, investigative/enforcement or regulatory background to help keep consumers safe from harm to be an integral part of a team with the key purpose of consumer safety

Key Responsibilities:

​​As one of 4 analysts within the team, you will play a meaningful role in the receipt and triage of information and intelligence into the unit through the centralised mailbox and commissioning process. You will focus on the production of Information and Intelligence products using established intelligence analytical techniques, data interrogation and research to help inform regulatory decision making across a variety of teams and meeting structures. �

​​Some stakeholder engagement may be required internally and externally with Trading Standards officers and other regulatory agencies throughout the UK.�

​​​As a regulatory information and intelligenceanalyst you will work within the 'management of information and reporting� area to;�

Help inform, regulatory risk based decisions ensuring accurate recording of data and production of information and intelligence reports.�​​Compile data sets from multiple sources to carry out data analysis and deliver timely and accurate outputs to support regulatory risk based decisions.Utilise effective analysis processes for information gathering and analysis and dissemination, within national guidelines.​​Champion the use of information and intelligence across the Office helping to embed an intelligence and risk led culture.​​Work with wider OPSS to develop proactive, fit for purpose regulatory data reports.​Support the development of strategic, tactical and operational assessments to support OPSS� corporate objectives and drive operational activity.�​​Support the development of operational instructions to support and provide guidance to OPSS teams.​�

Please note�that this role is open to candidates working in either our�Birmingham, London or Teddington�office. When you are required to give a preference, Twickenham will appear rather than Teddington, so please be aware that you should choose this option if you wish to be based in Teddington.�

Person specification

Essential Criteria�

Experience in using analytical databases.��Ability to review/combine multiple datasets to provide and present clear outcomes.�Ability to present, communicate and disseminate data appropriately and with influence.�Good working knowledge of Word/Excel/PowerPoint to produce and visualise accurate and informative reports.Strong problem solving, analytical and time management skills.Proven ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt well to consistently changing environments.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport, influence, and network effectively.��

Desirable Criteria���

Experience/knowledge of the National Intelligence Model.Experience of writing intelligence products making relevant assumptions and recommendations, based on collation of information from a range of sources.Previous experience of working in a regulatory environment.Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI/Qlik Sense/Quicksight/Tableau or similar.
