Job Purpose:

Responsible for providing a high-quality training and support service for a caseload of apprentices. Deliver a robust assessment service to meet the NVQ and framework completion requirement. Responsible for providing a high-quality teaching service for apprentices meeting the NVQ and framework completion requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Training Officer
• Provide a recruitment service to attract suitable candidates to training programmes.
• Work with the Regional Training Centre Co-ordinator assisting with Initial Assessments, the organisation of college recruitment and delivering induction sessions.
• Ensure Pre-Placement Assessments for new and existing employers are completed.
• Carry out apprentice reviews, ensuring a minimum contractual requirement.
• Support and guide apprentices through their apprenticeship, support achievement of the Apprenticeship Framework within the given timeframes.
• Provide pastoral support and safeguards with apprentices to promote their welfare.
• Engage in customer focus, responding to training needs/issues raised by employers, apprentices, in a timely and professional manner.
• Update administration documents following contractual guidelines and within timeframes.
• Maintain excellent working relationships with external parties, assisting with industry events and committees.
• Maintain an awareness of sector developments to build expertise and maintain professional knowledge.
• Engage in other such duties, under the discretion of the Regional Manager.

Plumbing and Gas Tutor
• Deliver Technical Certificate levels 2 and 3 preparing teaching materials where necessary.
• Assess apprentice work / assignments alongside the course syllabus.
• Ensure accurate learner records are maintained re attendance, punctuality, and progress. Prepare reports and liaise with the relevant Training Officer regarding poor attendance, progress or discipline.
• Liaise with Technician/Store staff to maintain levels of materials / equipment required for course syllabus delivery.
• Supervise training activities ensuring high levels of apprentice discipline.
• Maintain welfare and safety of apprentices at all times.
• Liaise with internal and external inspection bodies responding to reasonable requests.
• Engage in other duties as required by the Regional Manager.

Internal Verifier
• Conduct interim and summative Internal Verification of the Level 2 Technical Certificate.
• Ensure awarding body standards are maintained co-ordinating and managing plumbing Training Centre External Verification visits.

Requirements

**Essential Requirements:
• Advanced Craft Certificate in Plumbing, Plumbing NVQ3 or equivalent.
• Relevant Level 3 Gas qualification or equivalent including a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience: EG: City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Gas Utilisation; City & Guilds / SQA S/NVQ in Domestic Natural Gas (Level 3) or City & Guilds 662 Certificate for Service Engineers (Gas) or City & Guilds 598-2 Certificate in Gas Installation Studies or City & Guilds 660 Certificate in Gas Fitting. Certificate in Education or equivalent
On-the-job experience
Good Presentation Skills
Good IT Skills
Two years' plumbing experience within a mechanical services organisation following achievement of appropriate qualification.
Driving Licence and use of a car

*Desirable:
GCSE English A-C, NVQ level 2, O-Level A-D or equivalent
Understanding of Further Education
Health & Safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely)
Assessor qualifications (D32, D33, A1 or TAQA)
Internal Verifier qualifications (D34, V1 or IQA)
Knowledge of the Contracting Industry / Building and Services Industry
