HMNBP is one of three naval bases providing enabling support as part of the nation�s defence strategy. This requires continuous improvements in building capacity, capability and resilience through its people. It �is the home base for assigned ships and ship�s companies preparing for operations. Job description

The Royal Naval Distribution Authority (RNDA) works under the Base Security Organisation and is directly accountable to the Captain of the base.

This position is an ambitious and exciting opportunity which requires good judgement, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks.
The Alternate Crypto Custodian will be working alongside naval and civilian personnel �and is responsible to the Crypto Custodian for the whole life accounting for all Cryptographic items held on account, ensuring the safe handling and the distribution/disposal of these items are recorded and controlled appropriately. The post holder will be directly responsible to the Crypto Custodian working within a fun but small specialist team undertaking a variety of interesting and challenging activities. �Along with the Custodian you are the principal advisers on all aspects of Cryptographic security and the methods necessary to provide the correct level of protection relevant to their Cryptographic holdings.

Key Responsibilities

Administering the receipt, stowage, issue and return of cryptographic equipment.Liaising with ships staff and shore establishments to provide specialist adviceOn a rotational basis, provide out of hours on-call cover which attracts an additional allowance.Assisting the Crypto Custodian with the day to day running of the RNDA.

Candidates will need to demonstrate that they can work at pace, have excellent communication skills with a high standard of diligence and attention to detail is paramount. A reasonable standard of IT experience is required.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
