The primary RN FPS function is delivery of an agile, integrated multi-disciplinary suite of services to support a global Navy. RN FPS provides three main pillars of service including Casework, Community Development & Outreach Support, and Information and Communication platforms. This adaptable and integrated organisation strives to enable and sustain resilience and resourcefulness within our diverse Naval Service Community.�

RN FPS provides an open, flexible and supportive work environment.� With a blended workforce comprised of civil servants and RN personnel working together, the Service Manager Casework Delivery (SEO) is critical in the delivery of a comprehensive specialist welfare service to an evolving, learning organisation.� Following a programme of transformational change, service delivery is now split across two main delivery areas.� The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective delivery of multi-disciplinary specialist welfare across one of these areas.� This will also necessitate regular visits to various locations around the UK therefore, a flexible work ethos is desirable alongside the ability to travel.�

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.�

Job description

In this role, you will:��

Direct, manage and develop staff in Casework Delivery to ensure an effective and efficient welfare service.��Provide professional social work supervision and/or line management to civil servants and military personnel in accordance with existing policy, guidance, legislative framework and Social Work England Codes of Practice.���Provide service specific advice and support to Head of RN FPS to ensure resources are maximized in accordance with MoD and Naval service policy requirements throughout the UK and designated overseas locations.��Use your professional judgment to make decisions on casework and related professional matters.�Adopt a positive and inspirational mindset to guide and direct local teams.��Support and inspire others to pursue continuous improvement, actively apply leadership credentials to inspire CPD and support RN FPS� ethos of being a learning organisation.�

In this role, you will:��

Ensure the effective deployment and administration of resources within area of responsibility to achieve optimal capability, delegating tasks as appropriate to both military and civil service personnel.��Manage staff within a large organisation, setting targets and reviewing performance regularly.��Monitor progress against set goals to ensure these are met, and take appropriate, corrective action if objectives are not being achieved.��Set performance targets and personal development for direct reports and provide appropriate support as needed.��Communicate and motivate team(s) to ensure employees achieve and realise their true potential based on their skills at all levels��Have enthusiasm, passion and dedication for welfare, social care and social work values.��Be flexible and adaptable and able to work well under pressure by carrying out additional tasks/projects commensurate with grade.��Translate organizational vision and into service delivery.��Adopt collaborative approach to co-production and co-design through working with the third sector and other professionals.�

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
