HQ Provost Marshal (Army) (PM(A)) and 1 Military Police (MP) Brigade is responsible for delivering worldwide military police, custodial and guarding services to the Army and in support of wider Defence outputs. The HQ consists of three distinct elements: the Service Advisor, providing governance and assurance; the Capability team, developing future training, personnel and technical solutions and the Brigade HQ, commanding our MP Units based across the UK and deployed in multiple overseas locations.

The position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Assurance & Lessons (A&L) (HEO grade) is the Team Leader responsible for the assurance of RMP policing and investigative activity, identifying lessons and influencing policy amendments to align with best practice. This is a key role within HQ PM(A) and the incumbent will be responsible for the development of policy in line with policing best practice and legislative changes. The incumbent will monitor activity to ensure compliance and visit Units at least annually to conduct an in-depth Performance Assessment Visit (PAV).�

Key responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring that all Royal Military Police (RMP) Units undergo an Annual Policing Assurance visit and to subsequently produce a detailed report of findings and initiate remedial actions as required. This will require travel to RMP Units within the UK and Overseas.

Responsible for all RMP Second Line Defence Assurance activity in relation to Policing and Investigations.

Represent the Investigations & Policy Department at the Assurance Working Group and Strategic Assurance Board.

Evaluate RMP Policing lessons learnt and co-ordinate a procedure to ensure timely amendment of policy and contribute to any policing/investigation training reviews.

Use Service Police IT systems and other IT related material to remotely monitor and assess RMP investigation activity against current legislation and doctrine to inform SO1 Investigations & Policy of any policing deficiency or unsatisfactory performance.

Managing a military member of staff who is your assistant.

Use Service Police IT systems and other IT related material to collate, analyse and distribute crime and policing statistics as required by the RMP and the Service Justice, Discipline and Conduct Group, MOD.� Provide performance management data to the Service Justice Executive Group on a quarterly basis.

Compile a Daily Crime Briefing Document and provide updates on cases of interest.

Provide a monthly legal adviser return to AFCLAA and investigate any irregularities or challenges submitted by solicitors.

Collate and disseminate Court Martial results to investigating units.��

Development Opportunities

The incumbent will gain huge experience concerning Service Police procedures and practice. The incumbent will have the opportunity to develop and influence Service Police policy and processes.
