London, United Kingdom Centrica plc Full time
We are Centrica We're so much more than an energy company. We're a family of brands revolutionising a cleaner, greener future. Working here is #MoreThanACareer - we're powered by purpose. Together we can make an impact that will truly change tomorrow. Whether you're developing cutting-edge green tech, helping customers on the front line or simplifying operations behind the scenes.

Your work here isn't just a job - it's a mission. We all play a vital role in energising a greener, fairer future.

Centrica Energy is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade power, gas, LNG, and energy attributes and connect producers, suppliers and off takers in the wholesale energy markets - and we provide our clients with the best route-to-market services available to the market today with physical and financial settlement approaches. In short, we call ourselves Energy Movers By Nature.

We're a total of 850+ colleagues from over 50 different nations, located in 8 different offices around the world. At our London office, where this role is located, you'll be joining our international office with over 300 dedicated energy specialists.

As the Head of LNG Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing 2 high performing teams:
  • LNG Commercial Operations - the day to day commercial and operational activities associated with Centrica LNG contracts (changing slots, contractual restrictions, specifications, cargo, and voyage instructions, etc). Focus on building relationships with the counterparts, extracting all the value existing in contracts
  • LNG Marine Assurance - ensuring our deliveries adhere to all maritime safety requirements. These are the specific requirements of vessels, ports, terminals, cargoes, design specs, etc. Additionally, to independently monitor the efficiency of our fleet of vessels, whether used by ourselves or sub-chartered out to 3rd parties.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced senior manager within LNG to be part of an organisation that is focused on maximizing profit from trading activities.

The role is based out of our central London office (close to Marble Arch) with a minimum of 3 days per week based within the office. There is also a requirement for occasional travel to other Centrica Energy offices (e.g. Denmark and Singapore) and operations in other countries.

What you'll be doing:
  • Execute an integrated schedule for delivery and/or receipt of LNG (referred to as the Annual Delivery Plan (ADP) and Ninety Day Schedules (NDS)) in order to extract, in coordination with the traders, the maximum value of the contracts
  • Identify potential risks in integrated schedule and develop mitigation scenarios with relevant groups for implementation
  • Develop tools, models, procedures, and processes required to effectively manage commercial obligations arising from contracts
  • Corroborate with team initiatives to grow revenue, customer numbers and overall market reputation
  • Bring experience and best practices to improve Centrica's operational processes and maintain our marine assurance and operations at the top of the industry
  • Ensure that contract terms, commitments and obligations such as notices, invoices, contract terminations and renewals, requested studies and analyses, etc. are adhered to and completed in a timely manner
  • Support the operation of Trading and Shipping Contracts on a day to day basis to protect P&L and add value
  • Work within the Centrica HSES policy standards for LNG Marine activities
  • Maintain a Marine Assurance policy with clear escalation of risk incidents
  • Forecast LNG cargo delivery volumes, LNG boil-off, LNG quality to be within contractual obligations. Take prompt action with customer in case is needed
  • Capture, record, maintain and reconcile internal trading and shipping data, including LNG volumes, charges, invoices, etc. to ensure accurate P&L forecasting, cash flow and invoicing
  • Assist Contract Management with contractual reviews of third party MSA, SPA, CN contracts and negotiations
  • Communicate with LNG customers regarding cargo scheduling, shipping, and other contractual issues, including dispute validation and resolution
  • Support the development of the different systems and tools to improve Centrica's systems
  • Deliver new projects and initiatives on time and to budget
  • Build a positive, ambitious culture that is attractive to top talent
  • Be available out of hours on call to deal with urgent issues
  • Develop in coordination with the Head of Marine Assurance and the Head of Commercial Operations junior members of the team
  • Be part of the LNG leadership team, being part of the key decision making to run the LNG business (i.e. strategy, HR, talent management).

We have a few must-haves:
  • Broad LNG experience and knowledge across Commercial and Cargo Operations, and Marine Assurance
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with LNG contracts
