You will be working as part of a diverse national team, undertaking all aspects of the assessment process.

You will be experienced in gathering evidence, analysing data and writing reports, as well as confident when interviewing professionals, people who use services and the public.

We need candidates who are passionate and knowledgeable about the work of local authorities and want to make a positive impact on health and social care within England.

If you think this role might be for you, then read on....

With the introduction of the Health and Care Bill, CQC will have new powers regarding assessment of how local authorities (LAs) deliver their duties under Part 1 of the Care Act.

These new powers will support us to deliver on our new strategy to look at how care is provided by a local system, deliver on what is important for people using the services and reduce inequalities in their care.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with colleagues in the LA assessment team including the policy team, data and intelligence team, subject matter experts and experts by experience.

You will support on-site and offsite work. You will engage with professionals within the LA using the single assessment framework and the quality statements.

This will be an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the health and care landscape.

Why this could be a great role for you....

We are undertaking an ambitious programme to assess all local authorities in England and are building on our existing team to deliver this.

We are looking for inspectors to join the team who are passionate about assessing how the LA carry out their duties under the Care Act.

As an Inspector you will take accountability for delivering a range of regulatory activities contributing to the end-to-end assessment of quality and safety of local authorities.

What we're looking for from you...

You'll be experienced in leading and working in a multidisciplinary team and will be able to demonstrate critical thinking towards challenges and complexities faced in your work.

As a strong influencer, you'll have the ability to quickly build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships at all levels of seniority.

You will have excellent communication skills and be confident in challenging assumptions and recognising good practice. You will have the ability to work at pace to assess and interpret complex evidence requirements at LA level.

You'll also have experience and knowledge of the roles and structures within local authorities and understand the importance of the interface between health and social care.

You will use your knowledge of regulation and your experience of local systems to present as a credible force in the assessment of LAs.

A self-starter, you will be able to cope with frequently changing demands as the work develops and be comfortable working with ambiguity in complex environments.

This is a home-based role but will require national travel to the relevant sites as part of the on-site activity.

There will also be a requirement to attend face to face training and meetings as required.

Please note, if you are shortlisted for this role, the first stage of the recruitment process will be a 3-hours' time constrained written exercise to be completed remotely.

Candidates who are successful at the first stage will be invited to attend a virtual interview via MS Teams.

What we can offer you...

Your health and wellbeing are important to us and are supported through our benefits scheme:

  • 27 days' annual leave, rising with service to 32.5 days, plus 8 Bank Holidays
