Job Title: Information Officer

Location: KFRS Headquarters, The Godlands, Straw Mill Hill, Tovil, Maidstone ME15 6XB (hybrid working available)

Salary: Grade 5 £30,164 to £34,061

Pension: Career average pension scheme with 17.5% employer contribution

Holidays: In addition to entitlement to bank/public holidays you will receive 29 days holiday

Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week

Being an Information Officer

You will deliver an efficient, informed and fully compliant information request handling operation and support the Service's wider data protection and information governance arrangements.

You will process, co-ordinate and respond to external information requests, including those made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and data subject access requests made under Article 15 of the UK GDPR.

What you'll do:

  • Process, co-ordinate and respond to requests by the police for CCTV footage from the Service's fire engines or other vehicles.
  • Management and oversight (under the direction of the Data Protection Officer) of the IT system used for logging and recording information requests.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer in containing, managing and resolution of data incidents, including those which are determined to be data breaches.
  • Supporting the post-incident review and implementation of any remedial measures as necessary.
  • Provide support to the Data Protection Officer in the day-to-day running of the Service's information governance arrangements.
  • Prepare updates to the Members of the Fire Authority of the numbers of freedom of information requests, in line with the Service's responsibilities under the Cabinet Office's 2018 Revised Code of Practice for Freedom of Information Requests.
