Nuclear Safety Procedure Author - CLYDE

Up to £70k plus car allowance

Nuclear Safety Procedure Author - Responsibilities

  • Collect information from subject-matter experts, including the business supply chain, and develop, organize, and write detailed implementation procedures and safety process documentation.
  • Work independently, taking ownership of scheduling and status reporting to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure the timely development and stakeholder acceptance of procedures, aligning them with current best practices and legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Use resources efficiently when developing procedures, providing the appropriate level of detail at the right time, and avoiding rework as designs and implementation methods evolve.
  • Communicate procedures effectively to diverse stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, project managers, engineers, and team members. Present complex technical information clearly and understandably.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance, learn from incidents or near-misses, and implement changes to prevent future occurrences.
  • Review risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.
  • Provide technical support to staff on nuclear safety practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and stakeholders to improve safety measures.

Nuclear Safety Procedure Author Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in nuclear safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Nuclear Safety Professional) is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a MOD NSAG Coordinator role is advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience of drafting/coordinating Nuclear Plant Modification proposals is advantageous but not essential
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear safety, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
  • Excellent written communication and technical authoring skills.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear safety regulations, authorising conditions and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Knowledge of risk management and experience in conducting risk assessments and safety analyses.
  • Experience in the development testing & commissioning procedures inc. Factory & Site Acceptance Testing.
