Role Overview
In this unique position, you will join a dynamic and enthusiastic team of skilled professionals engaged in the maintenance and repair of sophisticated equipment and systems. This role presents exceptional growth opportunities and access to specialized training to further develop your expertise.
On a daily basis, you will perform welding tasks (MMA and TIG welding as applicable) to support operational activities, leveraging your welding and fabrication skills to deliver essential services in the repair and inspection of various systems and equipment on Royal Navy vessels at HMNB Clyde.
You should be prepared to work at heights and in confined spaces, as this role entails manual labor, including lifting, bending, using tools, and standing for extended periods.
This is a full-time position with working hours from Monday to Thursday - 8.05am to 4.45pm and Friday 8.05am to 12.05pm, based onsite at HMNB Clyde.
Essential Qualifications for the Advanced Nuclear Welding Specialist
- Demonstrable previous welding experience, particularly in pipe welding.
- Proficient in MMA and TIG welding on small-bore pipework, including Carbon Steels, Stainless Steels, and Copper Nickels.
- Experience with maintenance technical instructions, welding procedures, and acceptance standards.
- Familiarity with FCAW and mechanized welding is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work that meets acceptance standards.
- Experience with maintenance procedures, risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments, and Safe Systems of Work, along with excellent teamwork abilities.
- A recognized Fabrication/Welding Apprenticeship to N/SVQ Level 3 or HNC and above in a fabrication/welding discipline, coupled with relevant industry experience.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
