About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Repair Welder to join our team at Babcock International Group. As a Nuclear Repair Welder, you will play a critical role in supporting the repair and inspection of various systems and equipment on Royal Navy vessels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out welding activities (MMA and TIG welding where appropriate) in support of operational tasks.
  • Utilize your skills and experience in welding and fabrication to provide key services in the repair and inspection of various systems and equipment.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces, and perform manual work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate previous welding experience, including significant experience of pipe welding.
  • Experience of MMA process and proficient at TIG welding on small-bore pipework encompassing Carbon Steels, Stainless Steels, and Copper Nickels.
  • Previous experience of working with maintenance technical instructions, welding procedures, and acceptance standards.
  • Experience of FCAW and mechanised welding would be advantageous.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet acceptance standards.
  • Experience of maintenance procedures, risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments, and Safe Systems of Work with excellent team working skills.

Qualifications

  • Hold a recognised Fabrication/Welding Apprenticeship to N/SVQ Level 3 or HNC and above in a fabrication/welding discipline with industry experience.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
