Working in partnership, Colchester City Council, Tendring District Council and North East Essex Integrated Care Board, are providing residents and patients alike with more choices in how to access digital services. We are seeking a Digital Access Support Officer who can help us achieve this.

Colchester City Council undertake the management of the project and is committed to delivering high-quality and accessible services to residents, visitors and businesses. They are a local government authority providing a diverse range of public and commercial services across Colchester, the second largest district in Essex.

Duties of the role

As an essential member of the Digital Access Support Team, you will be responsible for all aspects of assisted self-serve and technical digital online assistance development. With an emphasis on arranging activities and building networks that promote online self-serve and build confidence and capacity for our residents to manage accessible platforms for themselves using today's digital technology.

The role will require a great deal of solo working, although still very much part of a team. The post holder will need to be able to work on their own initiative and plan and run successful activities within both Colchester and Tendring. As well as completing and creating reports to measure success around these events and sessions, as well as other administrative tasks.

You will be expected to show, guide, and demonstrate to people how to use electronic & smart devices as well as how to use online services and platforms.

You will be responsible for creating, monitoring, and supporting the delivery for multiple projects. And in some instances, actively seek opportunities to enable new projects to be developed. You will work closely with colleagues from across a range of community disciplines, and the Council and NHS as a whole.

You will have an active role working with external partners, contractors, and local communities, overseeing the provision of assisted self-serve and digital support services. This will include working with and assisting a wide and diverse range of the community, and you will need to have your own vehicle to drive to various locations in both Colchester and Tendring.

This is a job that demands willingness and an ability to turn your hand to whatever tasks come along, meeting deadlines either by working effectively on your own or as part of a team, undertaking some administrative duties and providing statistics via relevant documentation to measure success.

Qualifications and skills required

To be successful in the role, the post holder will be required to have an ability to communicate and train people of all levels and abilities, as well as a high degree of patience, which is essential for the role.

You will need to demonstrate project support plus administrative skills and experience, well-developed communication abilities and be competent in the use of today's 'smart' technology, as well as comfortable with assisting and training others in the use of multiple devices.

It is essential that you have knowledge and understanding on how Android, iOS, Windows, and any other AI or Smart technology functions, this is in order to provide guidance to others and to troubleshoot any problems you are presented with.
