We are seeking to hire 3 permanent and 1 fixed-term Accessibility Services Officer to become part of our dedicated team in Colchester. Please note, the fixed-term contract is for a duration of 12 months.
The Role
The Customer Specialist position within the Accessibility Services team will involve the successful candidate managing the administration of the Blue Badge Scheme for residents, from the initial application process through to the issuance of the badge.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing all Blue Badge applications in accordance with national legislation and guidelines, while adhering to the Council's procedures.
- Responding to postal and email inquiries, crafting tailored responses as necessary. Sending referrals for applications that require an Independent Mobility Assessment (IMA) appointment.
- Reviewing assessment reports, updating the system, and notifying applicants of the results of their applications.
- Issuing Blue Badges using the appropriate systems.
- Accurately updating systems with all necessary information.
- Utilizing all systems in compliance with relevant guidelines.
- Generating and formatting correspondence, personalizing as necessary for printing and dispatch by the team.
- Assisting with customer follow-ups as needed.
- Performing general administrative tasks related to the Blue Badge Scheme as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in computer use (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail, as precision is crucial for this role.
- Good English and Mathematics skills.
- Effective communication abilities.
- A friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Willingness to learn and the capacity to retain information, as there will be a significant amount of learning involved.
- A desire to excel and a readiness to acquire new skills while demonstrating a strong work ethic.
