London, Greater London, United Kingdom CITY OF LONDON CORPORATION Full time

Barbican Estate. Be the voice of reassurance and the overall problem-solver in our estate management team.

The City of London Corporation provides a unique career prospect for motivated and collaborative team-players. Tasked with overseeing the success of London's dynamic heart, our work incorporates the area's business capabilities, tourist destinations and the high quality of living that we endeavour to secure for all City of London residents. It's an interesting challenge, that takes us from shaping trade opportunities within the Square Mile to championing key social issues such as education and employment. As such, there is always scope to explore your interests and develop your career within the organisation – making us a desirable employer of choice.

Joining the Barbican Estate Office which sits within Community and Children's Services, you will play a vital leaseholder management role across the Barbican Estate. You would be responsible for around 700 properties on the Barbican Estate, and it will be up to you ensure our residents receive an exceptional level of service as set out in their Service Level Agreements. As the first point of contact for when things go wrong, you will provide reassurance and information, using the relationships you have forged with both residents and service providers to find amicable and efficient solutions. Maintaining the quality of these properties and developing new services and plans, you will see to it that residents feel confident in our capabilities, thereby protecting the reputation of the City of London Corporation.

Within this fascinating role, you will have the scope to identify opportunities for improvement, including working with residents' groups to take their opinions and suggestions on board. As such, you will ideally have some experience of working within the housing sector, complemented by excellent customer service skills. Dealing with people's homes inevitably generates strong emotions, so you will need plenty of compassion, and great verbal and written communication skills to convey instructions and enforce leasehold covenants that may not be popular. You will also investigate neighbour disputes, so you will have plenty of tact and diplomacy, with the willingness to work with other departments (such as the legal teams) when necessary. We are passionate about delivering value for money services, so you will also have good financial acumen with the ability to develop, implement and monitor service level agreements.

This is the type of role that is both career-defining – and provides you with the delightful knowledge that you're doing something good for the community. We work collaboratively to drive results for our residents, and you will be central to this work. With exposure to the types of challenges that only a capital city can provide you with, you are sure of a steep and exciting learning curve. So if you are comfortable working at pace and you enjoy plenty of customer contact, then get in touch and help us nurture the future of this colourful neighbourhood.
