Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Slough Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a possibility of extension or a permanent position for the suitable candidate at a rate of 19.00 which can be negotiated based on experience.

We are in search of an Immigration Support Worker for a role based in SL1 2EJ.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Offer guidance and support to individuals dealing with immigration challenges, especially those lacking public funding or valid immigration status in the UK.
  • Evaluate clients' immigration status and explore available avenues for regularization.
  • Collaborate with immigration lawyers, charities, and organizations to ensure clients receive correct legal advice and assistance.
  • Create and manage personalized support plans for clients, considering their immigration status, social requirements, and health issues.
  • Track client progress and adjust support strategies as needed for successful outcomes.
  • Identify and facilitate suitable housing options for clients efficiently, including emergency shelters, transitional housing, or permanent solutions.
  • Advocate for clients in the immigration system and other relevant agencies to safeguard their rights and meet their needs.
  • Provide clients with information about their immigration rights and responsibilities.

We are seeking individuals with:

  • Previous experience in outreach work or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum Level 1 OISC qualification and registration.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting individuals facing homelessness and immigrants with complex needs.
  • Understanding of immigration laws and processes, particularly related to asylum, visas, and refugee status.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with cultural sensitivity and empathy.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and data management systems.
  • Knowledge of languages other than English is advantageous.
  • Commitment to upholding high standards of client confidentiality and data protection.
