An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Therapy Practitioner to join a forward thinking and dynamic Stroke Rehabilitation and Nursing Team within Stroke Unit, Perth Royal Infirmary.

The ethos of the service is on person-centred care, and enabling service users to reach their optimum potential and enriching their recovery.

You will be supporting the rehabilitation of patients with stroke from the acute stage of their care through to discharge.

This will include:

Assisting and progressing exercise programmes.Functional activities to promote independence with self-care (washing/dressing/cooking/feeding).Upper limb rehabilitation.Cognitive rehabilitation.Assisting specialist seating and wheelchair assessments.Supporting discharge planning and equipment needs.Group activities.Working with family and carers, including facilitating remote/virtual interaction as required.Support nursing teams within specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.

We are looking for an individual who demonstrates an energetic, and flexible approach to their work, and who has previous experience of working as a support worker within therapies/nursing. The ability to work well with all members of the multi-disciplinary team is essential. You will need to have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, be able to work as part of a varied team, and be able to motivate service users.

Hours of work are: 18.5 hours

The hours require weekend working on a rota basis.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
