Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time
People Technical Co-ordinator - Workplace Services (Glasgow)

The Bridge

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

Scottish Water is more than a place to work... it's a community

Our Workplace Services team play a key role in creating a Great Place to Work across our 40 offices and depots. They're the friendly faces greeting visitors to our main buildings and always aim to provide a top-notch, customer-focused service.

We're looking for a People Technical Coordinator to join the team, based out of The Bridge in Stepps.

What you'll do

Health and Safety is at the forefront of all we do and a big deal for us. You'll lead the charge in monitoring and reviewing our compliance with Scottish Water health and safety policies. You'll make sure we have enough First Aiders, Fire Wardens and defibrillators, registered on a central database, and recommending actions to boost performance and resolve any compliance issues.

Workplace Services also work closely in the management of our contracts, including catering, cleaning and waste, as well as with Property Management during the upgrade and refurbishments of buildings. You'll take the lead in supporting and monitoring contracts under the TL in the area, making sure they deliver what's needed and hit their KPIs. You'll set up regular review meetings, following up on actions, and escalating any problems that arise.

You'll play a key role in creating, energising and supporting local Scottish Water communities all over Scotland. Your efforts will help build connected, flourishing workspaces that are Great Places to Work.

On the digital front, you'll help us track common tech issues our customers face, whether in the office or remotely. You'll recommend solutions in collaboration with our Digital and Workplace teams and coordinate training and information sessions for the entire Workplace team, making sure everyone's ready to handle support requests.

What you'll need

You'll be the face of Scottish Water when you're dealing with customers – a professional approach, high standards and a drive for excellence, an openness to learn and a positive 'can-do' attitude will go a long way.

You like working with others, building strong relationships, helping solve problems and suggesting ways to do things better. Top-notch communication skills are essential too – our customers will turn to you for the information they need.

You'll have strong digital skills and be confident turning your mouse to new software.

It'd be great if you have an awareness of health and safety regulations and practices and some experience managing and monitoring contracts, but this is not essential.

You'll be based at The Bridge in Stepps, but occasionally we'll need you to travel to other locations to support other Agile hubs. You'll need a valid driving licence, but we'll provide the pool car.

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it's not the only thing that matters. That's why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

This is a full time (37 hours per week) role, Monday to Friday. But you'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days (pro rata) of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there's our pension (the 'know-what-you'll-get-when-you-retire' kind), as well as life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

This role will be a Grade 4. If you're new to Scottish Water, you'll join us on a starting salary of £27,590. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £32,410.

If you're interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we'll be accepting applications until midnight on Wednesday 7 August 2024. And we're aiming to hold interviews for this role the week beginning Monday 19 August.

Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional. We'll be able to confirm your start date once you pass our Pre-Employment Screening. This is done for us by a third party. Don't worry. We'll ask for your permission before we start the checks.

A few final things worth knowing...

Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you're interested in this job, but don't tick all the boxes, apply anyway We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don't rule yourself out

Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We're very used to making adjustments, so please don't be afraid to ask.

As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it's important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don't already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.

Finally (finally), candidates who haven't submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won't need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted.
