Supported by (and reporting to) the Director of Underwriting, you'll be joining a friendly team who believe in challenging the traditional ways of insurance. We aim to provide pricing and analytical solutions to create innovative insurance products that the market has not seen.

What you'll do:

As our Head of Pricing you will be responsible for setting the future strategy and direction for Pricing and Data Science whilst growing and leading a team at the core of INSHUR's business. This will be across all territories on multiple lines of commercial motor business. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Build and guide the Pricing and Data Science teams
  • Collaboration with carriers and channel partners to meet ultimate loss ratio targets
  • Reviewing insurance profitability by developing loss ratios to ultimate
  • Manage and develop end-to-end pricing operations, including embedding principles of Fair Value and Consumer Duty into day-to-day processes
  • Maximising growth of GWP and revenue
  • Setting the commission strategy for the business
  • Monitoring business performance
  • Set and deliver the plan for reviewing and rebuilding pricing models and implementing innovative rating factors
  • Accountability for Pricing on key company projects
  • Driving analytical and Data Science growth across the rest of the business
  • Developing prices for Fleet and future products
  • Other responsibilities which may be reasonably expected to deliver business objectives and create a market leading Pricing & Data Science function

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have worked in a Pricing environment within motor insurance
  • Are a qualified or nearly qualified actuary, or qualified by experience
  • Have plenty of experience using SQL, as well as some R or Python and Earmix
  • Have built and worked with pricing models such as generalised linear models (GLMs), gradient boosting models (GBMs) and other machine learning algorithms
  • Have experience projecting loss ratios to ultimate
  • Know the benefits of price optimisation and how to use it in practice
  • Understand the commercial needs of stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Are passionate about data, modelling and analytics
  • Understand the value of data in a commercial environment
