Your new opportunity

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an Operational Manager to join our Health, Children, and Families teamdelivering services across Scotland. As a key member of the leadership and management team you will beresponsible for ensuring that assigned services comply with statutory and legislative requirements andeffectively lead on performance management and quality assurance.

You will work with Service coordinators, Project Managers and the wider team providing support and guidance relatedto trauma informed practices, developing and monitoring service finances while focusing on key objectives withinthe organisational plan.

As an Operational Manager you will ensure staff and the people we support are the centre of best practice modelsincluding promotion of safety, health & wellbeing and that information is available across these key areasand accessible to all. #keepthepromise.

This is a full-time permanent role working 35 hours per week Monday – Friday in line with our agile working policy,which blends home-working with office time and service visits. You will also be required to provide operationalon-call support on a rotational basis (an on-call allowance will apply).

We are looking for a Team Leader to join our leadership team within Glasgow. In this position you will play a crucialrole in the on-going learning and development of the service and contribute to how we continue to best meet theneeds of families across the city. Building relationships and the ability to communicate effectively internallyas well as with external partners and agencies is at the heart of everything you will do.

You should have experience of working in a leadership capacity; of offering reflective support and/or supervision toa team of staff/students/volunteers and able to confidently respond to and manage risk.

Families are facing increasing challenges which makes this is a demanding role requiring tenacity, commitment andflexibility. No two days are the same

If you have a passion for working alongside families, have experience of keeping children safe, are committed torestorative approaches, and have a professional qualification in a relevant area such as Social Work, Teachingor equivalent in Child Care/Social Care or related area, accredited counselling qualification, or other relevantqualification at SCQF level 9 or higher, then we want to hear from you.

Base

We currently have a community base in the Pollok area of the southside. The role involves meeting partners andfamilies across the city, in their local communities.

This a permanent role of 35 hours a week, to be worked flexibly, including some weekends/evenings.

Our Options Dundee service works in partnership with families offering tailored packages of support to help familiesstay together. Based on the needs of the family, this includes supporting morning and bedtime routines in thefamily's home and offering a variety of sessions and groups for children and young people which also help themto access activities in the community.

This specialised service enables the children and young people to grow and develop – access their local area, broadentheir experiences and provide new opportunities which not only meet their needs but encourage them to flourishin a safe nurturing way.

What we are looking for....

We know how difficult it can be managing your work/life balance, and so we are offering flexible hours to work atweekends either on a Saturday or a on a Sunday or working on both days at the weekend. Work hours would rangefrom 5 hours to 15 hours.

As part of a small team, you will ensure that the highest level of physical and emotional care is provided to thechildren and young people.   • Be committed and willing to meet the needs ofthe service, working 9am-5pm, five days a week and additional shift, evening and weekends asrequired.
  • Participate in the on-call system which includes public holidays, evenings, andweekends.

Essential skills and Experience Required

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold a degree in Social Work or another relevant degree eg psychology as a minimum qualification with ongoingpersonal development for continued practice.
  • Be trauma informed with a working knowledge of thesignificant impact that poverty and systems have on children and families.
  • Have a keen interest inattachment theory, child development and understanding of an approach of therapeutic parenting.
  • Have acurrent working knowledge of child development, and attachment and trauma informed theory which will underpinpractice.
  • Be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and adhere to standards in line withtheir requirements.
  • Have the creativity, compassion, and skill base to deliver robust and focusedparenting capacity assessments.
  • Have a keen interest in the delivery of The Promise Scotland and thesupports required to scaffold families in the community.
  • Have Line Management experience (essential) ofmulti-disciplinary agencies, in children and families.
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft officeprogrammes, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Hold a full driving licence and have use of their ownvehicle (mileage paid).
  • Provide two references and join the PVG Scheme.

Who are we?

The LGT is a registered Scottish Charity which offers independent parenting capacity assessments within a ruralresidential setting near the village of Thornhill, 10 miles from Stirling town centre. We provided residentialplacements to parents and their child/children in cases where a Local Authority has concerns about the parent'sability to meet the children's needs. By working with the families, we are able to provide evidence -basedinformation about whether the child can remain safely within the family, and if so, what support is required.The LGT's practice is based on Kate Cairns 'Five to Thrive working model' and, via a 12-week parenting capacityassessment we assess, support, and develop parent's confidence, skills, and insight to promote healthyattachments. The LGT staff team work closely in partnership with independent consultants in Social Work,Psychiatry, Counselling, Health, Play, Music, and Art Therapy to provide a holistic and organic assessment.
