This role will coordinate a variety of work streams which, together, will contribute to achievement of the NHSL sustainability ambitions and objectives. The post holder will demonstrate the expertise and leadership that are fundamental to developing and implementing environmental and sustainability strategies that empower and support teams across NHS Lanarkshire to put sustainable healthcare at the heart of their practice.

Working with key stakeholders including our staff, partners and the communities we serve the post will ensure we deliver practices, procurement systems and preventative interventions that minimise our environmental impact, protect the natural environment, enhance social value, promote good health and enhance quality of life.

This will be delivered through:

- Provision of professional support to NHS Lanarkshire (NHSL) to identify, plan, develop and implement strategies, policies and guidance to improve NHS Lanarkshire’s performance on National & NHS objectives for Sustainable Development (SD) and Environmental Management.

Deliver specialist knowledge, expertise and leadership on environmental & sustainability management across NHS Lanarkshire.

Influence and advise NHSL Property & Estates Strategies on all sustainable development and environmental matters

Develop ideas and strategies to engage our workforce and partners to deliver the necessary change required to realise our ambitions

You will need specialist knowledge of relevant strategy, policy, legislation and regulation in sustainable delivery and environmental management including the management of complex projects through effective project management.

Ability to develop business case, coordinate research contracts and consultants, work planning and budgetary management gained from public or private sector. Specialist knowledge and experience is required across a wide range of technical disciplines, which would include personnel, finance, building, engineering, energy, environmental and property related issues to help the organisation achieve its objectives.

Interpersonal and problem solving skills along with the ability to influence and manage change with good supervisory / planning / organisational skills to ensure efficiency and continued improvement of the service

Excellent communication, interpretation and influencing skills are key along with people management skills and the ability to operate in a supportive facilitative manner.
