We are looking for an IT security specialist who will be based at Kirklands, NHS Headquarters you will work within a specialist IT Security team reporting to the IT Operations Manager but will be part of an operational team directly delivering the infrastructure services. You will assist in ensuring our cyber posture evolves to ensure we are aligned with national directive requirements and NHSL remains ‘hardened’ for any potential cyber-attacks. The role will advise on contracted support for cyber security, including critical incident recovery services. They will have good technical understanding and support/maintain the following critical security areas/systems:

- Anti-virus
- Firewalls
- Patch and Vulnerability Management
- Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Microsoft Systems Centre
- Virtualisation Technologies (VMware/Hyper-V/KVM)
- Endpoint Encryption Technology
- Secure Remote Access

The following knowledge, training and/or experience is required for the job:

- The post holder will be educated to or operating at a degree level in an IT Specialty.
- Specialist, demonstrable and extensive experience in an IT Security related discipline.
- Specialist technical knowledge across complex IT security products and practices understanding current needs and acknowledging industry trends.
- Leadership skills to enable the day-to-day management of service delivery within an IT role
- The post holder will have experience in presenting to groups of technical staff on an individual basis.
- The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using their own initiative
- The post holder must be able to drive and have a current driving license,
- The post holder will be familiar with the principles and methods of project management.
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills

The post holder will work under direction from the IT Operations Manager and will be responsible for supervising other staff involved in these activities. They will be required to provide technical reports to the IT Operations Manager on a regular basis regarding the performance and status of these systems.

The post holder must have a current UK/EU/EEA driving license and have access to a car.
