Job Title: Group Health, Safety & Environmental Manager at Advanced Medical Solutions

Job Purpose
The Group Health, Safety & Environmental Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that all working areas within the AMS Group adhere to national safety regulations and industry standards. By overseeing environmental, health, and safety protocols, the manager's primary objective is to safeguard employees, visitors, customers, and the environment. This involves implementing comprehensive strategies, providing training, fostering employee engagement, and continuously improving EHS systems.

Key Results Area
  • Responsibility for meeting the Environmental targets set by the Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Committee.
  • Management of the Net Zero commitments outlined by AMS.
  • Reporting on environmental objectives to employees, Senior Management Team (SMT), and the Board for the annual report.
  • Monitoring and reducing Health, Safety, and Environmental incidents.
  • Ensuring compliance and reporting on relevant legislation in these areas.
  • Preventing orders or prosecutions from national agencies overseeing Health, Safety, and Environmental issues.
  • Improving the AIR Score (AMS Groups Measure of Accident rate) at all facilities.
  • Promoting active engagement in EHS activities and cultivating EHS Champions within the organization.
  • Owning and maintaining H&S, Environmental, and Energy Management systems.
  • Successfully executing EHS projects for improvement within specified timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Role:
  • Focus on achieving environmental objectives and driving AMS Groups' "Net Zero" Journey.
  • Develop and enforce safety & environmental policies to align with current legislation and enhance overall awareness.
  • Offer expertise, advice, and guidance on best practices in EHS.
  • Continually enhance existing policies and procedures to ensure optimal safety standards.
  • Engage employees to foster a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Stay updated on evolving EHS regulations and ensure compliance within the AMS Business.
  • Collaborate with managers and key personnel to implement a program of continuous improvement in EHS management.
  • Conduct regular audits to uphold rigorous risk assessment and accident management systems.
  • Identify areas for enhancement, propose corrective actions, and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide comprehensive training on EHS systems, equipment, and workplace practices for staff.
  • Monitor and analyze accident reports, prepare insights for Health and Safety leadership, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Lead the company's EHS Committee and conduct EHS maturity audits.
  • Manage specific safety and environmental projects effectively.
  • Oversee key safety task groups and provide advice to managers and employees on EHS matters.
  • Investigate incidents, suggest preventive measures, and support HR activities related to safety, health, and environment.
  • Manage budget allocation for Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives.
  • Supervise local EHS Officers in larger sites to ensure safety compliance.
  • Assess workplace hazards, control measures, and enforce safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and health providers for EHS compliance.
  • Engage with the ESG Group and participate in safety management meetings and project reviews.
  • Deliver presentations to senior management on safety and environmental developments.
  • Prepare regular reports documenting EHS activities and achievements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in science, management, or equivalent. Alternatively, NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management.
  • Prior health and safety experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Membership in a recognized Health and Safety/Environmental/Risk Institute.
  • Proactive engagement with updates in Health and Safety legislation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Strong communication skills for varied audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapting to changing circumstances.
  • Sound business acumen for analyzing and addressing safety needs.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and teamwork.
  • Flexible and responsive to organizational changes.
