HCQ Monitoring Services screen patients that have been prescribed and are actively taking the drug Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) the drug is prescribed for patients with autoimmune disease including systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.


There is a risk of retinal toxicity from HCQ which can be irreversible and lead to significant visual impairment and sight loss.


The post-holder will deliver a consistently high-quality level of administrative support to the delivery the eye monitoring service for patients prescribed Hydroxychloroquine in specified area(s) as well as act as a Deputy Manager.


What you are responsible for:

  • Assist the Programme Manager in the operational running of the programme and deputise in their absence.
  • Following appropriate procedures immediately on receipt of referrals
  • Ensuring all records are well organised, maintained and held in
- accordance with the InHealth Intelligence confidentiality policies

  • Liaising with NHS Trusts, GP Practices and community clinical and
- administrative staff when required

  • Reporting any incidents, errors or breaches of standards to the HCQ Manager
  • Assisting in the development of and ongoing production of required performance reporting and monitoring
  • Assisting with the arranging and booking of HCQ clinics across the county.
  • Assisting with the logístical arrangements of clinics ensuring equipment is delivered and set up in preparation for clinics.
  • Assisting the HCQ Manager to ensure the service is appropriately resourced for clinics, grading and admin functions in line with internal and external standards
  • Regularly keep up to date with national level initiatives and changes in guidance in own sphere of work and ensure the organisation is compliant
  • Collate and produce reports and specific audits as required
  • In liaison with the HCQ Manager, Devise Policies, Procedures, SOPs and QMSs to meet internal and external regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards
  • Become an expert level user of HCQ Spectra, IT infrastructure and Laptops in accordance with best practice
  • Advising on potential improvements to IHIs software and systems, proposing enhancements to the grading functionality and specify requirements of any development required
  • Work with the IT testing and development teams to quality assurance review and sign off on new releases, attending software meetings as required
  • In a corporate capacity, support the roll out of software systems and assist with training and writing supporting SOPs and QMSs
  • Support communications between IT and DES Programmes in relation to road mapping and releases

You have experience of:

  • Working in a customer or patient facing role ideally within a healthcare setting
  • Using Microsoft packages and other IT systems
  • Working as part of a team but also independently
  • Data protection and confidentiality laws
  • Working to and interpreting Policies and Guidance, sharing relevant changes as they arise
  • Using evidence to make improvements, seeking out innovation
  • Strategic thinking ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise
