REED are working with an exciting life sciences start-up based in the Cambridge area to fill a vacancy within their protein engineering, expression, purification and characterisation team.

The company have already received a huge investment and are set upwith enough money for at least the next 4 years of operation.


In this role you will

  • Perform DNA cloning and prepare DNA constructs for transfections
  • Express novel TCR formats in HEK293 and CHO cells in small, medium and large scale
  • Perform protein purification and ensure proteins are of highquality using protein analytical and assay techniques (SDS-PAGE, HPLC-SEC, ELISA)
  • Maintain and establish cell lines required for protein production
  • Provide highquality protein material to the downstream protein characterisation team
  • Support protein team in functional and biophysical characterisation
  • Analyse and present work/data in group meetings and produce accurate scientific reports and SOPs
  • Maintain uptodate and accurate laboratory record of all experimental activities

About you

  • Handson experience in protein production in mammalian cells such as proteinbased biologics (e.g. antibodies or other biologics) and protein purification
  • Experience with protein expression in E. coli and troubleshooting difficult expression would be highly desirable
  • Practical knowledge of the AKTA purification platform and using conventional chromatography resins e.g. ion exchange
  • Good working knowledge of a range of methodologies to characterise proteins
  • Mammalian cell culture aseptically culturing and maintaining cell lines, transfections for protein production
  • Knowledge and/or experience in antibody or soluble TCR development would be highly desirable
