We are looking for a dynamic scientist with expertise in immunofluorescence-based imaging and cryosectioning to join the Oncology Translational Research team at GSK Oncology TA. The ideal candidate will be part of a team that assesses patient-derived tissues using advanced cellular, genomic, and molecular techniques. Collaboration with AI/ML and analytics experts will be key to interpreting data and deriving clinical insights. The main objective is to enhance cancer patient risk assessment, identify clinical biomarkers, and forecast potential targeted or immuno-therapy susceptibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Process and analyze tissue samples from cancer patients.
  • Conduct immunofluorescence-based and spatial transcriptomic experiments on patient-derived tissues.
  • Capture images and perform basic data analyses independently.
  • Provide expert imaging support to cross-functional activities and stay updated on the latest imaging technologies.
  • Deliver high-quality data within specified timelines.
  • Address methodological challenges in research protocols.
  • Collaborate within a cross-functional project team to solve technical issues.

Qualifications & Skills:

We are seeking professionals with the following prerequisites:
  • PhD or equivalent background in Biology, Oncology, Biosciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, or similar field.
  • Extensive experience in cryosectioning and related sample processing methods for both IF and spatial transcriptomics.
  • Proficiency in tissue and cell-based image analysis using standard platforms/software.
  • Specialization in immunofluorescence and spatial transcriptomics imaging techniques.
  • Varied training in cellular biology, oncology, and integrative data analysis.
  • Sound understanding of cancer biology.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; adept at collaborating in a diverse team and articulating complex biology to team members with different backgrounds and senior leaders.
  • Proven track record of delivering top-notch results promptly with a positive, outcome-driven attitude.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and proficiency in assay development.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

The following attributes would be advantageous:
  • Knowledge of Xenium spatial transcriptomic imaging.
  • Experience with FFPE sample processing, microtome-based sectioning, immunohistochemistry, and H&E staining.
  • Publication track record in imaging technologies.
  • Expertise in cancer biology, including molecular mechanisms of tumor development and progression.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate scientific and business complexities effectively.
