GSK is looking for a highly motivated cell biologist to join the department of Discovery Biology & Screening (DBS) at GSK’s research facility in Stevenage. The primary responsibility of the DBS department is to deliver high quality, biologically relevant pre-clinical leads for all GSK therapeutic areas, by employing a combination of scientific tools and methodologies, including but not limited to assay development, high throughput screening, compound profiling, and mechanism of action studies.

**In this role you will**
- Design, implement, analyze and interpret high content assays (including imaging) to support multiparametric screening using a range of cellular models.
- Maximise information content derived from multiparametric readouts through internal collaboration with Data Science, AI/ML and Research Statistics teams.
- Lead new technology initiatives to evaluate and implement new technologies to build internal capability.
- Be a Subject Matter Expert to set direction and train/develop internal FTE.
- Work collaboratively in matrix team environments to drive timely delivery of projects and objectives.

**Basic Qualifications & Skills**:
**We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals**:

- PhD level+ or equivalent industrial experience in biological sciences (such as Cell Biology, Immunology, Oncology or Molecular Pharmacology).
- Experience in the design and development of mechanistic cell-based assays, across multiple cell types.
- Extensive experience in microscopy, high content imaging, and image analysis.
- Experience in the use of automated liquid handlers and/or integrated robotics platforms to run high-throughput assays.
- Knowledge of pharmacological principles and the ability to interpret quantitative data sets from compound profiling experiments.

**Preferred Qualifications & Skills**:
**Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply**:

- Experience in standard image analytics, secondary analysis packages, and data visualization tools (i.e. Columbus/Harmony, Cellprofiler, Signals ImageArtist, Spotfire, Genedata Screener, etc).
- Experience running high throughput, high content screens (i.e. understanding of screening best practices, data handling, high-throughput technologies).
- Fluent in one or more programming language; ability to write and run custom analysis scripts.
- Experience with PerkinElmer, GE, Cytivaor Yokogawa High Content Imaging systems.
- Experience programming automated liquid handlers and integrated robotic systems.
- Demonstrated experience in working with advanced/complex cellular systems (e.g., primary cells, co-cultures, stem cells, 3D cell culture, tissue samples).
