1. INTRODUCTION


You will be responsible for the day to day financial function within the Inspire and Achieve Foundation including bookkeeping, tracking and evidencing spend, making and tracking payments and invoices, managing payroll, and ensuring good accounting practices are upheld.


Working alongside the Director (Executive) and the Treasurer (Trustee Board) you will lead on the preparation of the quarterly management accounts for the Board and the charity annual accounts.


The charity has a variety of funding streams that is continually changing and this post will be responsible for the tracking and allocation of expenditure and income against funder criteria as required.

Experience of dealing with charity sector finance including the management of restricted and unrestricted funding is highly desirable but not essential.


This post holder will be a qualified and experienced management accountant and will ensure the charity remains compliant with financial best practice and appropriate legislation.

The Inspire and Achieve Foundation is a small, thriving, Nottinghamshire based charity that does everything it can to help unemployed young people aged 16-26 into positive outcomes and into employment.

Key Activities:

Financial Management Systems:

  • To track and administer charity expenditure and income
  • To complete the management accounts.
  • To complete the management accounts
  • To ensure financial compliance with funding streams, charity commission and companies house.
  • To support and guide the staff team in relation to the finance function.
  • To enforce standardized finance processes, including staff training as necessary.
  • To ensure compliance in relation to budget management and spend.
  • Managing inputting/reporting to Payroll on a monthly basis.
  • Inputting payments for Management Approval.
  • Where appropriate to support colleagues with scenario planning and consideration of risk mitigation.
  • Writing invoices and liaising with funding partners to track/query payments made.
  • Liaising with various community providers i.e. venues
  • Management of mobile phone and other contracts/utilities.
  • Lead on the procurement of office and overhead items
  • To keep up to date with policy changes in appropriate to role.
  • Other administrative duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with the post.
  • Present and promote an appropriate public image when representing the Foundation.
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.
  • Keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient executing of your job, with new legislation, procedures and techniques.
  • To maintain strict confidentiality and discretion at all times in line with GDPR requirements.

Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Director
  • To supply information as required by IAF.
The post is a permanent role and carries a commitment of 24 hours/0.6FTE (3 days) per week. Enhanced DBS check will be required as we work with vulnerable young people and children. This post commands a basic salary of £27,600 FTE so the pro rata salary at 0.6FTE will be £16,560. Remote/ Flexible working can be considered.

5. CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION

Skills /Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience of preparing management accounts and annual accounts
  • Extensive knowledge of managing finances for Charity/Not for profit organisations
  • Experience leading financial compliance and quality assurance processes
  • Experience of managing the budgets with various funding partners
  • Experience managing Payroll
  • Experience of delivering the invoicing and procurement functions for an organisation
  • Ability to identify issues in relation to budgets/spend/income and react/report them in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate you have the ability to provide constructive feedback to colleagues in a supportive manner in order to aid their development.
