Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time
The Acute Medicine and Rehabilitation Directorate wards are recruiting for nursing assistants now

We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate, and hard-working individuals to join our teams across our short-stay, complex medical, acute stroke and neuro-rehabilitation wards.

This is an opportunity to join one of our motivated and supportive multi-disciplinary teams, who work together to deliver high-quality, specialist care and really make a difference to the health and well-being of vulnerable patients in hospital.

Who will you be?

The main duties of your role will include providing personal care for our patients, including washing, dressing, toileting and assisting with mobilising and feeding, as well as the maintenance of the patient environment in terms of cleanliness, tidiness, and the restocking of supplies.

You will also work 1:1 with patients experiencing confusion and challenging behaviour, as well as supporting the nursing staff with clinical tasks and emergency events.

You will receive training in preventing patient falls and assessing and monitoring their skin for any signs of damage. You will be pro-active and committed to patient safety.

You will work right at the centre of the patient care team and will be able to communicate with colleagues to ensure information gets to the people who need it.

The evidence shows that the Nursing Assistant is often the first person to notice that a patient is deteriorating, so your role will be critical to the patient's health and well-being.

Overall, the most important qualities you will have are compassion, commitment, and a desire to care for people. Our wards are very busy and it can be challenging, but ultimately they are hugely rewarding places to work.

We look forward to meeting you and hope to welcome you to our team soon

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community.

We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence.

These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family.

Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Please see job description attached.
