About the role

Reporting to the Associate Commercial Director, the Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing strategic and day-to-day contract management for the delivery of bought-in goods and services. This includes proactively monitoring end-to-end supplier performance to ensure it meets agreed levels and driving service improvement activities, where required.

This new role will be pivotal in Xoserve's attainment of its key strategic direction and future ambitions, by building robust, fair and enduring partnerships with primary supply partners. The Commercial Manager shall be an advocate of Xoserve's vision and have the responsibility for ensuring our supply partners are totally aligned to our delivery model.

The Commercial Manager will also assist and contribute to the maintenance of all contract and procurement processes and repositories and monitor suppliers' performance through regular interface meetings and applying best practice principles and drive value engineering initiatives to secure optimum service provider performance delivery.

Responsibilities

Supporting Procurement, Early Market Engagement and Benchmarking;

  • For all bought in services, work alongside procurement Colleagues to ensure that we apply robust and appropriate Commercial principles in the appointment of selected partners, in the supply of services and product sets.
  • Adhere to and apply company policies (including, tender and contract documentation, tender process, contract award and contract administration).
  • Support contract negotiations that result in fair and reasonable commercial and contractual terms and conditions for Xoserve and the selected supply partner(s)

Contract Management;

  • Manage the contractual and commercial relationships with our main subcontractor and other third-party suppliers, to ensure delivery of contracted commitments to budget.
  • Manage contractual change control processes working closely with the relevant service recipient and business functions to ensure that the contract changes negotiated deliver the outcomes required by the Stakeholder.
  • Align contract changes, to ensure they reflect the requirements of Xoserve customers. All approved changes must be designed to create sustainable service delivery and achieve value for money targets.
  • Identify Commercial risks and apply effective mitigations, working with the Risk and Audit function.
  • Create, update and actively monitor key service performance indicators and apply appropriate contractual levers to recover under performance. Seek innovative solutions and apply best practice to improve productivity and cost reduction.
  • Provide comprehensive support in quantifying, analysing, and managing costs whilst ensuring value is derived from Xoserve third-party contracts.
  • Provide advice and input to our contracting and commercial arrangements with industry and internal Xoserve customers.
  • Provide advice across the business on contract and commercial matters generally, acting as an initial point of escalation for contract challenges and liaising with legal, finance and the business to understand the implications and risks for Xoserve.

Specialist/Technical Expertise

  • Developed understanding of contractual terms and conditions and contract management processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess situations quickly, based on fact, and make informed decisions and/or recommendations.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and take the initiative and accountability to deliver the requirements of the role.
  • Innovative thinker / problem solver who shows good attention to detail.
  • Experience of supplier negotiations using sound sourcing principles and a fact-based approach.
  • Proven track record in supply market analysis and selection of suppliers.
