As a Donor Stewardship Officer, you will be at the very heart of supporting our high-value fundraisers such as in our philanthropy -and corporate teams and mid-level programmes of work.

Internally this role is known as Stewardship Officer.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.

The role will involve travel to our head office and National Trust properties / regional offices to meet with stakeholders and to carry out work

What you'll be doing:

As our Donor Stewardship Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high quality communications and engagement activities to bring our donors and pledgers close to the impact they help us to achieve.

You'll work in partnership with fundraisers to support first-class relationship management for a group of high-value donors (spanning individuals, patrons, corporates, trusts and foundations, and statutory funders).

You'll be responsible for delivery of donor communications, and you'll develop inspiring and engaging donor impact reports.

You'll act as stewardship lead for a suite of fundraising projects gathering content from across the Trust to use for donor stewardship.


You will work closely with all fundraising teams both centrally and regionally, with the Communications and Events teams, and with colleagues in our Gardens and Curatorial teams.

For this position we're looking for someone who has:

  • Experience of delivering highquality, creative donor stewardship, particularly for major gift donors
  • Experience of creating donor communications and bespoke impact reports, on time and on budget
  • Experience in managing corporate stewardship, stewardship for legacy pledgers, or principal gift donors
  • Communication skills, both in person and in writing, able to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Creativity and a passion for creating a joyful donor experience
  • A love for working in team but also able to work independently
  • Inquisitive, wanting to learn from the sector to bring excellence to donor stewardship programmes
  • Working knowledge of legislation, regulation and codes of practice applicable to fundraising, including GDPR and PECR.
