We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Prospect Research Officer to join our Portfolio and Prospect Development team.

This new role will support our High Value Fundraising team (Philanthropy, Trusts, Foundations and Corporate Partnerships) with a particular focus on Corporate Partnerships. You will work closely with the team, supporting them with industry-specific research, identifying and qualifying prospects, and monitoring news sources for high-level partnership opportunities.

This role is offered as a full-time, fixed term contract or internal secondment for 24 months.

Internally this role is known as Prospect Research Officer.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. There will be regular travel to our Head Office and to our London or Surrey hubs once per month.

What you'll be doing:You’ll play a crucial role in helping us achieve our fundraising ambitions. You’ll be undertaking desk research to help create major donor and corporate pipelines. Providing analysis and insight on Companies, Foundations and High-Net-Worth individuals to find qualified prospects who are interested in supporting our work with philanthropic gifts, partnerships and through sponsorship.

In addition, you will work closely with the Fundraising Portfolio Manager to ensure fundraising activity is supported across the Trust with robust research and insight. You'll provide information, biographies and contribute to in-depth briefing notes to support meetings, guest lists, proposals and asks. You’ll keep a finger on the pulse of industry news, spotting brands who could be a good fit for a future partnership.

You'll keep up to date with data protection laws, ensuring data is captured and stored according to industry guidance, standards, and policy.

For this position we’re looking for someone who has:

- Knowledge or experience of corporate prospect research tools (e.g. ALF and Pearlfinders) and techniques (web systems, specialist publications and informal networks).
- Sensitivity and discretion in dealing with confidential information with standard knowledge of data protection, GDPR, and fundraising legislation.
- IT literacy, including Microsoft programmes, and fundraising or customer relationship databases such as Raisers Edge or Salesforce.
- Information management skills, ability to assess rapidly, identify key points, draw conclusions and provide insights to support fundraising teams plan their approaches
- An excellent record keeper, ensuring accurate financial reporting to inform future relationships with donors including report writing and presentations
- Communication skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to work methodically with patience and precision.
- A passion for your work, self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and proactivity, with self-initiated pieces of research, prioritising workload and working to deadlines
