Hours and shift pattern:

  • 24 hour shifts to include sleep in duties
  • 10 shifts per month
  • Starting time 10:30am

Your experience:

  • Children's Residential Care
You should have a desire to want to make an impact. Passion is the most important thing whilst working in this sector.

Your priority should be to make a difference to the lives of our young children who live in our big happy home.

You really need to enjoy what you do and
you will need the following:

  • The ability to take direction from the Deputy and Registered Manager
  • Confidence around children, young people and adults
  • Good written skills to write detailed reports and record information

You really have to connect with young people and be able to understand what they have been through in life. You should enjoy the variety of the role and bring a sense of humour to work. You should be willing to engage in all activities which might include sports, recreational and leisure, dancing, parties, trips to the zoo and the seaside.

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Care and support young people with challenging behaviour, trauma, attachment issues, mental health, ADHD, and autism and various other barriers
  • Foster positive relationships, encouraging strong bonds between you and the children and young people
  • Value and nurture each child as an individual with talents, strengths and capabilities
  • You will advocate for the rights of our children and young people to influence positive change in their circumstances
  • Share domestic and non domestic routines and establish boundaries of acceptable behaviour
  • You will help with their learning and development, help them with such matters as budgeting, education and training, employment and staying safe
  • Supporting emotional, mental and physical health needs including building selfesteem and helping to rebuild and repair earlier damage
  • You will work with the wider system of professionals and children's families and the community
