You will work within the Cardiology Department, supporting the patient journey through the non-invasive diagnostic services.

The role is key within the Cardiology Service Line, ensuring coordinated and streamlined administrative processes that revolve around the patient's individual needs and ensuring good communication and professional relationships with the multidisciplinary Cardiology team.


In addition to the above, the post holder will be responsible for providing a courteous and professional reception service to patients within the Cardiology Department.


The coordinator will need to organise and manage their workload on a day-to-day basis to meet competing demands and deadlines including an ability to respond to urgent requests.


  • To proactively oversee the length of waiting times for all noninvasive cardiology diagnostics.
  • Assess baseline requirements on all noninvasive diagnostics requests.
  • To be responsible for providing a friendly, courteous, helpful and professional reception service for patients, relatives and staff members.
  • Deal with patient queries sensitively and discreetly, using empathy and providing reassurance.
  • Flexible communication skills should be employed to overcome any barriers to communication including when patients or their relatives are upset, distressed unwell or aggressive.
  • Ensure that all visitors to the Cardiology Department are appropriately greeted and made to feel welcome.
  • Manage the appointment reminder system for the department.
  • Ensure all referrals are added to the appropriate waiting list in a timely manner ensuring accuracy of coding.
  • Schedule all appointments using iPM and ensure appointment letters are sent out in a timely manner including any relevant patient information leaflets.
  • To be able to concentrate and multitask in a busy and pressured environment, dealing with frequent and unpredictable interruptions which may be complex in nature.
  • To undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties as required to meet the needs of the service.
