About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Service Manager to join our team in Paediatrics at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Service Manager and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage clinic capacity and demand, ensuring all available clinic capacity is utilized effectively.
  • Work closely with the Rota Coordinator to develop rotas, ensure early escalation of potential staff shortages, and develop appropriate action plans to rectify problems.
  • Monitor and track nurse-led clinics, and work with Consultants to plan clinics and rotas for acute cover.
  • Be responsible for monitoring Referral to Treatment targets, co-ordinate actions for long waits, and report on RTT targets.
  • Provide service performance monitoring information in response to requests from Clinicians and Managers, including staff/clinic utilization, pay, rota structure, leave tracking, and vacancy control.
  • Support the development of e-rostering across the division for medical staff.
  • Prepare and present analysis of leave taken and forecast, agency usage, pay spend versus budget, and delivery against annualized performance objectives for consultants.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of a variety of software, including Microsoft Office and hospital systems.
  • Keep abreast of new information and developments published both locally and nationally regarding medical workforce planning and reporting requirements.
  • Update relevant policies and procedures to reflect this and ensure it is communicated effectively to relevant staff groups.
