Purpose of Post

  • To manage the assessments of all children, young people referred to the organisation, who have experienced or witnesses VAWDASV
  • To oversee the assessment of parents or caregiver who have been impacted by VAWDASV.
  • To manage a waiting list of that the children and young people are placed on by ensuring they are prioritised appropriately for the most appropriate service, have regular check ins.
  • To manage the allocation of the child or young person to an appropriate service and children and young person's support worker.


To provide a trauma informed service that is tailored to the individual needs of the children and young people by providing them with an opportunity to openly talk about domestic abuse and how it affects them.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in delivering specialist VAWDASV support services to young people between the ages of years, using a personcentred and trauma informed approach.
  • Manage your workload and diary to be able to ensure all referrals are contacted and assessed in a timely manner.
  • Lead in carrying out face to face individual risk assessments, initial needs and support assessments for young people to determine what level of service is appropriate.
  • To collaborate with the wider children and young person's team, ensuring a smooth referral pathway reaching the children and young person's worker.
  • Manage the administration processes and systems, ensuring all referrals are entered onto relevant systems and all information is accurate and entered on the data collection system in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage relationships with children and young people and their parent or caregivers based on trust and respect so that they feel safe and listened to.
  • To be the key collaborator developing and maintaining a seamless referral pathway and communicating this to referrers, stakeholders and the children and young person's team.
  • Where appropriate attend and contribute to multi agency meetings in relation to the wellbeing and safety of young person.
  • Be aware of Safeguarding and procedures and act on any concerns or information regarding the safeguarding of any children and young people that you come into contact with.
  • Ensure accurate recordings are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service, inputting information into the organisation's Information Management System.
  • Collaborate in gathering qualitative and quantitative data for internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate and involve children and young people in in service evaluation, development and reviews.
  • Contribute to the support the children and young people when needed, this could include supporting a main facilitator in group work etc.
  • Demonstrate and promote Cyfannol's ethos, vision and values.
  • Contribute to the protection and enhancement of the organisation's reputation.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision and appropriate training.
  • Work within the Cyfannol's Policies and Procedures.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required as requested by your line manager.

About you and the role


As the Children and Young People's Assessment Worker you will provide a trauma informed and person centred assessment with children and young people who are or have been affected by domestic abuse and / or sexual violence.


You will have the ability to quickly build trusting relationships with children and young people and their parents and caregivers.

You will have experience of working with children and young people and will have knowledge of the affects that experiencing or witnessing domestic abuse has on them.

You will have a comprehensive awareness of domestic abuse and be experienced in risk assessing.

You will be confident with the ability to work with young people between the ages of 5 and 18 years, have great interpersonal and communication skills.

You will be highly organised, adaptable to change, robust, resilient and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
