If yes, then we want to hear from you. Leaving care can be a challenging time for young people. We are looking to recruit Personal Advisors within the corporate parenting service.

Our Personal Advisors support young people leaving our care who are making the transition to adulthood. Our Personal Advisors support them to fulfil their potential in relation to social, educational and employment opportunities.


It is an exciting and varied role, building positive working relationships with other agencies and advocating on behalf of young people.

You will build positive relationships with young people to ensure that their aspirations are identified, and together with them, will put a plan in place to achieve their goals.

Our model of social work promotes a culture of support and collaborative working with a vast range of learning and development opportunities.

Unique to Cambridgeshire, our model offers systemic trained family therapists who provide a clinical lens to assessment, planning and evidence-based interventions with children, young people and their families.


Working out of various bases in Cambridgeshire but with the expectation you will travel across Cambridgeshire and nationally to visit children and young people.

Our offices are modern and you will be supplied with a laptop and smartphone as well as gaining free access to Tri-x, Research in Practice and CC-inform.

What will you be doing?
You will be primarily responsible for advising and supporting care leavers years old) with all aspects of strengthening their independent living skills including budgeting skills, supporting them with their housing needs, assisting them to access their Setting Up Home Allowance to furnish their flats, supporting them in accessing their local offers, supporting them with their education, housing and health needs.

As part of your role under the Leaving Care Act 2000, you will review pathway plans with young persons, keep in touch with them as mandated by legislations.

About you
To be successful as a Personal Advisor, you must:

  • Be passionate about delivering measurable outcomes for young people
  • Be able to travel around and outside the Cambridgeshire County area independently
  • Be eager to join and work in high performing teams
  • Be resilient, flexible, and have strong organisational skills to manage a caseload of 2530 young people
  • Have good critical analysis and risk assessment skills
