We're looking for an Underwriter to join the MGA team in Northampton

Here's what you'll be doing:

- become a key part of the MGA team - our internal insurer within Simply Business
- join our team of underwriters, analysts, and pricing specialists
- support the management of a portfolio of 300,000 customers and £75m gross written premium (GWP) across our landlord and small and medium-sized business owner segments
- end-to-end exposure to the full insurance business
- a broad range of other responsibilities to support the team's growing ambitions

We're looking for someone who is:

  • holder of (or near completion of) an ACII (Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute) or an equivalent professional qualification, with the aim of becoming chartered
- experienced in underwriting (3+ years), ideally commercial lines business
- proven in portfolio management
- experienced in building new products - launching on new distribution channels is desirable but not essential
- able to bring an analytical and data-driven approach to technical underwriting
- happy to assist and train junior colleagues
- a natural innovator that can bring ideas to drive growth and improve efficiency
- comfortable making decisions - you'll have underwriting authority
- a strong communicator, able to simplify complex ideas for others

  • you'll understand and drive improved portfolio performance, supporting the performance of the book
- you'll own and deliver large internal projects with a strong will to make things happen and get stuff done
- you'll drive our high-performing team culture while coaching and training junior members
- you'll make sure all our regulatory requirements are met, making sure our products provide good value to our customers
- you'll support our audit and peer review process to make sure our high standards are maintained
- you'll contribute to the case referral process from our contact centre technical team, making sure it's well managed
- you'll own and manage internal and external relationships with key stakeholders while building strong and credible relationships with key contacts
