The NDA Fraud File Handler role involves working within a team of fraud specialists and legal support staff.

The File Handler will run a caseload of Litigated RTA suspected fraud files on behalf of a cross section of insurance clients, working closely with sophisticated claims handlers acting without any Delegated Authority.nThe File Handler will work in close conjunction with the Team Leader and the relevant Lead Lawyer in the team so to achieve the best possible results in a commercially sound manner.

The role requires both an ability to follow defined processes and a forensic and analytical approach to dealing with evidence.

In addition, a high level of commercial awareness is essential.

A key elements of this role is decision making, to be reached within a set timeframe in accordance with the case strategy and within the best interests of the client.nThe File Handler will work with strategic foresight so to ensure all litigation and opportunities are taken in order to work towards shaping the future of the counter-fraud arena.

nThe caseload will consist of a range of suspected fraudulent insurance claims consisting of the following types of claim:

  • Bogus Passengern
  • Staged/Contrivedn
  • Fraudulent Exaggerationn
  • Induced accidentsn
  • Low Speed Impactn
  • Late Notification Claimsn
  • Credit Hire Fraudn
  • MIBn
  • Linked & Organised Crime


Key AccountabilitiesnIt will be the responsibility of the File Handler to run fraud cases from the point of litigation through to the resolution of the case.

Responsibilities in case management include, but not limited to:
nStrategic Excellencen

  • Detailed review and analysis of evidence throughout the life of the casen
  • Setting and agreeing the case strategy on files with clients, ensuring adherence to any KYO or generic strategies that may be put in place by Lead Lawyer and Technical Leadsn
  • Adhering to all work type process stagesn
  • Identifying strategic litigation opportunities and complex cases when appropriaten
  • Identifying client trends and any opportunities to raise profile with clientsnClient Excellencen
  • Handling files in accordance with agreed client guidelines on a non-delegated basisn
  • Ensuring maximum client satisfaction on each casen
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of all client and internal MIn
  • Achieving both client and internal KPIsnTechnical excellencen
  • Reporting to Insurer client throughout the lifetime of the claimn
  • Liaising with all appropriate involvements on the case in order to carry out agreed investigations to meet the set strategyn
  • Compliance with all procedural and investigative deadlinesn
  • Achieving, the best result in litigation – protecting the client's position in relation to proceedings, ensuring full compliance with the court timetable utilising procedural tactical advantages where possible. Undertaking advocacy where required and cost-effective to do son

  • Delegating tasks as appropriate to assistants to take the case forwardn
  • Timely and accurate maintenance of all Case Management Systems from opening to closuren

Working Hoursn35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location for this role is Bolton, Parklands Office, we are agile workings with at least one day in the office each week

Experience, Skills and QualificationsnEssential Skills and Attributes:n

  • Experience in civil litigation claims handling / as a legal File Handler or suitably qualified (ILEX, LPC etc.)n
  • Experience in one of the following:n
  • Experience of handling RTA pre-litigated and / or litigated case loadn
  • An understanding of insurance litigation practice and processes together with indemnity principlesn
  • Knowledge of the litigation process / working knowledge of the CPRn
