Situated on the beautiful Moray Coast in the North of Scotland, Gordonstoun is widely recognised as the world leader in character education. We run our own prestigious and well-established Summer School for children aged 8-16 from approximately 40 nationalities. Each year we create a vibrant international community where our staff play a critical role in creating a happy and formative summer experience for our students.

We are looking for a Head of Department (Outdoor Education) to oversee the on-campus adventure elements of the course, developing and delivering a fun and exciting programme that makes the most of our excellent facilities and extensive campus. You will lead a team of indoor and outdoor adventure staff, utilising the experiences and qualifications available within the team to provide a broad and varied offer for our students.

Applicants must have significant and relevant breadth of outdoor education/adventure experience and qualifications. Experience of working in an educational, boarding or summer school environment is also required. A teaching qualification is desirable.

Summer School operates two courses and the Head of Department (Adventure) is required to be available for the full duration. 2024 dates, including mandatory induction, are:

Tues 2nd July – Mon 5th August

Residential position with full board. Competitive Salary.
