You will be responsible for


Initiate and promote the Hearing Aid User Support Service in order to reach and engage with people who are deaf and hard of hearing.


The target group for this Hearing Aid Support service is adults ordinarily resident in the Western Health and Social Care Trust who have been issued with an NHS hearing aid(s) but who are struggling with the usage or management of the hearing aid(s); and possibly have stopped using their hearing aid(s) altogether.


You will recruit, train and support volunteers to deliver our 'Hearing Aid Support Service' throughout the Western Health & Social Care Trust in conjunction with the Sensory Support Teams, Audiology, RNID Service Manager and other Hearing Aid Support Service staff.


What you will be doing

You will:

  • Work in partnership with the
    _Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG) of the Department of Health_ to develop hearing aid user support services within the Trust.
  • Ensure delivery of the hearing aid user support service activities through use of volunteers in both community and hospital settings.
  • Work with the Service Manager to plan activities, meet project objectives and monitor and evaluate the "Hearing Aid Support Service".
  • Provide regular progress reports to Managers on targets and service expenditure in line with funding requirements to enable service review.
  • Raise awareness of the service by marketing it through all appropriate means including networking and local statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • To coordinate the 'Hearing Aid User Support Service' volunteers ensuring they are recruited, developed, trained, supported, and motivated to provide the highest quality of service in line with our Investing in Volunteers accreditation.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team across the statutory and voluntary sectors.
  • Attend any training relevant to the role.
  • Carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post at all times in compliance with all of RNID policies, but especially Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.

You will need:

  • Demonstrable experience of recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
  • Knowledge of best practice in volunteer management.
  • Sustained project or service delivery experience gained in a relevant setting.
  • Proven ability to achieve targets and maintain quality standards.
  • Ability to produce written and numerical information accurately.
  • Ability to develop working relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues, service users, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of giving presentations.
  • Excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality compliance.
  • An understanding of the issues affecting deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus and an open and inclusive attitude that supports the development and knowledge of deaf culture.
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Ability to travel across the WHSCT region and to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • No essential qualifications but a good standard of written English and attention to detail is a requirement.
