Applicants are invited for Senior Clinical Fellow (ST3+ equivalent) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a friendly, dynamic, large, teaching acute hospital trust. Posts are available now and for 6 months fixed term with a possibility of extension to 2 years.

The post holder will work at a level equivalent to that of a ST3+ trainee. Applicants must have completed Foundation competencies either as part of the UK Foundation programme or demonstrate equivalent training. Applicants should have experience at working at a ST3+ level for a minimum of 6 months ideally within the UK. Basic Life Support training is essential.

Candidates will require current and valid GMC registration.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic doctor to join the current Obstetrics and Gynaecology team as a clinical fellow at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The service is delivered through four sites: St James University Hospital (SJUH), Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), Wharfdale General Hospital and Seacroft Hospital.

This is a non-training post, however, it allows the post holder, including applicants who already hold CCT, to gain experience that will help to secure future posts.

As a Maternal Medicine Centre our service leads on the provision of specialist care to high-risk women across Yorkshire and Humber through a large selection of MDT clinics (diabetes, endocrinology, cardiology, haematology, rheumatology, renal, gastro-intestinal and maternal medicine clinics). The successful candidate will be given dedicated sessions to work in these clinics, as well as have an opportunity to be involved in local and regional MDT meetings, QI projects and service development. Following recent national restructuring of maternal medicine services, Leeds is one of only two Maternal Medicine Centres in Yorkshire with a large catchment area offering preconception and maternity care to very high risk women across the region. Working here will therefore give the successful candidate an excellent learning opportunity and expertise in the management of women with significant medical problems.

About us

The Gynaecology service in Leeds is led by a large number of Consultants & Nurse specialists who deliver clinical expertise in Benign Gynaecology, Early Pregnancy & Acute Gynaecology, Urogynaecology, Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy & Reproductive Medicine. The CSU provides a full secondary and tertiary service for Leeds, Yorkshire & significant parts of the North of England. A £1 million development housing the Leeds gynaecology day-case unit, & acute gynaecology & early pregnancy unit (GATU & EPU) opened on ward J24 at St James's at the end of March 2015. Known as the Leeds Centre for Women's Health this is a very exciting development for the team, and is the fulcrum of all the teams plans for modernising pathways, increasing productivity and reducing length of stay. The SJUH Maternity Unit, deals with approximately 4,500 deliveries per year. The LGI Maternity Unit, has around 5,200 deliveries per annum.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic doctor to join the current Obstetrics and Gynaecology team as a clinical fellow at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The service is delivered through four sites: St James University Hospital (SJUH), Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), Wharfdale General Hospital and Seacroft Hospital.

This is a non-training post, however, it allows the post holder, including applicants who already hold CCT, to gain experience that will help to secure future posts.

Almost all the sub-specialities in Obstetrics and Gynaecology are provided for at our centre.
